NEWS: Ryan Reeves Petitions Court to Officially Change His Name to Ryback

NEWS: Ryan Reeves, f.k.a. Ryback in the WWE, has officially petitioned a Nevada court to legally change his name to Ryback Ryan Reeves. The Nevada court system requires an ad to be placed in the local paper alerting the local community about the intention to change one's name. Ryback has already done this and is waiting for the court to officially sign off on the name change. There is no word on how the WWE would like to pursue this matter, if at all. The situation is similar to the one the WWE faced with Jim "Ultimate Warrior" Hellwig. Hellwig claimed that the Ultimate Warrior name was his to use, since he used a "warrior" gimmick before entering the WWE. Vince McMahon; however, created the Ultimate Warrior name, which kept Hellwig from using it elsewhere. Ultimately Hellwig was successful in legally changing his name to Warrior. Only time will tell whether Ryback Ryan Reeves will be successful in the same way in 2016; but, if history is an indicator, the WWE has enough money to challenge anything legally and are very serious about copyright and trademark infringement.
