NEWS: DeAngelo Williams Calls Out Gronk

NEWS: Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams is now an Impact Wrestling superstar after making his in-ring debut at last weekend's Slammiversary pay-per-view. Williams teamed with former NFL star Moose in a successful tag team effort against Eli Drake & Chris Adonis. Williams has been receiving comparisons to New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who came to his friend Mojo Rawley's aid at the WrestleMania 33 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Williams, a life-long wrestling fan, isn't fond of such comparisons and let it be known while guesting on NFL No Huddle,
"Gronk doesn’t even watch wrestling. He’s not even a fan. His friend [Mojo Rawley] wrestles but he’s not even a fan. He has no idea what’s going on and he got that involved in it.”
It could just be sour grapes on Williams' part. After all he has been a fan his entire life and has been training vigorously to transition from an NFL career to a pro wrestling career. It could be sour grapes or it could be something more. The New England Patriots allowed Gronk to get physical at WrestleMania despite the possibility of injury. Gronkowski isn't technically signed to the WWE and he is free to compete anywhere he'd like, even in Impact Wrestling. It just might be that Williams is hoping to coax him into what would be a media frenzy of a match between the two NFL greats.
