NEWS: WWE to Air Global Cruiserweight Series

NEWS: The WWE has officially announced that it will air the Global Cruiserweight Series this July, exclusively on the WWE Network. The series, which will feature a tournament of wrestlers 205 pounds and lighter, will take place over a ten week period at Florida's Full Sail University, the same location the vast majority of NXT action takes place. Triple H stated, "If you want to refer to us as a combat sport, I think the lighter, faster guys can sometimes be as — if not more — exciting than anything else you see. I wanted to exploit that in a bigger way. Sometimes when we get into cruiserweight talents on Raw or SmackDown or even NXT, the sizes vary so much with talent. Here, you put them in their own environment and against a similar style performer. It puts it them on a whole new playing field. I really wanted to go down the road of seeing what they can do in that environment." The WWE has its own share of light-weight talent including; Kalisto, Sin Cara, Neville, Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn, and Xavier Woods; however, the company would undoubtedly be looking for talent from all over the world including utilizing wrestlers from companies the WWE has kindled a previous relationship with, such as New Japan Pro Wrestling and EVOLVE Wrestling.
