ON THIS DAY IN WRESTLING HISTORY: 2/5/1988 - On the debut episode of The Main Event, Andre the Giant defeats Hulk Hogan to become the WWE Champion; but, then attempts to sell the title to "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. The move is declared illegal by WWE President Jack Tunney, who proceeds to put the Title on the line during a tournament at WrestleMania IV. The tournament was won by "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who would hold his title for approximately one year, before he lost it to Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania V.
