HOUR ONE
- Shane McMahon is in ring and out comes SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan. McMahon argues that SmackDown is the land of opportunity; but, that Bryan keeps giving the same two men (Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn) all the opportunities. The Kansas City crowd chants, "Rusev Day!" McMahon says the crowd would like others to have opportunities; but, Bryan contends that Owens and Zayn will get another shot due to the referee's error. McMahon brings up that the two have kept getting chances even before the Royal Rumble. McMahon tells Bryan that he has great respect for him and that he has changed the landscape of the WWE forever; but, McMahon also accuses him of living vicariously through Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. The two are then interrupted by A.J. Styles, who is incensed over both McMahon and Bryan obsessing over Owens and Zayn. Styles says that he is a fighting champion and does not care who wins the match tonight. He tells Bryan and McMahon to stay out of the way and promises to walk out of Fastlane as WWE Champion.

- A.J. Styles runs into Shinsuke Nakamura backstage who tells Styles, "I'm going to beat you at WrestleMania."

- Charlotte Flair defeats Liv Morgan (with the Riott Squad) via submission

- Renee Young interviews Kevin Owens backstage about his upcoming match against Zayn. Owens is asked whether the match will have an effect on their friendship to which Owens replies, "That's up to Sami and how well he can handle losing to me."

- The Bludgeon Brothers defeat two jobbers via pinfall. Postmatch: The Usos make their way to the ring and run into the Bludgeon Brothers as they make their exit. The four engage in a brief staredown before the Bludgeon Brothers make their way to the backstage area.

- The Usos cut a promo on their journey to success

- Daniel Bryan reveals the SmackDown Top 10 List, as voted on by fellow SmackDown Superstars:

- Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin cut a promo on the Fashion Police

- Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable defeats The Ascension after Benjamin pins Viktor

- Renee Young interviews Sami Zayn who believes that tonight is his opportunity to step out of Kevin Owens' shadow

- #1 Contender's Match: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn ends in a Double DQ after A.J. Styles (who was ringside doing commentary) becomes physically involved in the match. Postmatch: Daniel Bryan announces that A.J. Styles will face both Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at Fastlane in a Triple Threat Match.
