NEWS: Jerry Lawler Arrested for Domestic Violence; Suspended by WWE
NEWS: WWE's SmackDown commentator and Memphis wrestling legend Jerry "the King" Lawler has been arrested on domestic violence charges. Lawler and his fiancé, Lauren McBride, were involved in an altercation in their Memphis, TN home. According to McBride, Lawler physically assaulted her and then put a gun on the kitchen counter, telling her to 'go kill herself.' Lawler told police that McBride had lied to him about where she had been and came home intoxicated and suicidal. Lawler then stated assaulted him with a candle and by kicking him in the groin. Police were unable to determine who started the fight or escalated the violence, as well as who brought the gun to the location. Both Lawler and McBride were then promptly arrested on domestic violence charges. Lawler was then immediately suspended by the WWE, who issued the following statement: "WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest." The arrest could not come at a more inopportune for Lawler, as he was set to be a part of the new revamped live SmackDown announcer team. This may mean the end for Lawler's twenty plus year WWE career, as the Company takes domestic violence very seriously and does not want to be publicly associated with anyone that perpetrates such an act, even a WWE Hall of Famer.
