NEWS: HIV Positive Charlie Sheen Was Set to Wrestle Daniel Bryan in 2012
NEWS: Recently renowned Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen made the shocking announcement to the world that he is HIV positive. Sheen made the public admission that he first learned he contracted the virus five years ago in 2010. During a well publicized public breakdown in 2012, the WWE and Sheen decided to work together in promotion of SummerSlam 2012. Sheen's job was to draw heat between he and Daniel Bryan, which he gladly did in hopes of promoting his own television show, Anger Management. Sheen was named RAW's social media ambassador for the shows prestigious 1000th episode where he and Bryan were involved in an on-screen scripted altercation in which Sheen provoked Bryan via Skype. Bryan fired back and Sheen retorted, "If he wants me, he knows where to find me," implying SummerSlam 2012, which was conveniently being held in Los Angeles, California. Bryan covered the incident and plans for a SummerSlam match in his book Yes!, "He was going through a very public breakdown at the time, and somehow WWE brokered a deal for him to perform against me. He taped a couple of videos for ‘Raw’ insulting me, and even though it was a goofy match to be in, it would’ve put me in one of the top matches at SummerSlam. Unfortunately, whoever brokered the Sheen deal never got him to sign any sort of contract to do the event, and in typical Charlie Sheen fashion, he bailed.” The world now knows that Sheen would have likely never been cleared to perform in that match anyway because he would have most likely never been able to pass a WWE physical due to having contracted the HIV virus. When Sheen revealed his HIV status recently on the Today Show in an interview with Matt Laurer, he confirmed that he had spent millions of dollars in hush money, to keep the startling news private. It is only speculation at this point; but, Sheen may have bailed in "typical Charlie Sheen fashion" because he knew he would have never been able to pass a rigorous WWE physical and didn't want to risk having his secret exposed. It's only speculation; but, it is definitely understandable why someone would "bail" on a big promotional opportunity and a large amount of money for that very significant reason.
