NEWS: The Mae Young Classic was a wild success for the WWE and featured, as promised, some of the very best in women's wrestling. As often happens in the world of professional wrestling, the Mae Young Classic endured some creative changes along the way. The WWE is very high on Kairi Sane and she was far and away always chosen as the winner of the competition; however, she wasn't always supposed to face Shayna Baszler in the finals. Instead, Sane was supposed to face off against Aussie sensation Toni Storm. That match instead took place in the semi-finals, with Sane obviously winning to go on to face former MMA competitor, Shayna Baszler, in the finals. The WWE switched plans in order to build toward an eventual angle with Baszler and her MMA compadres (Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke) collectively known as the 4-Horse Women against WWE's very own 4 Horse-Women (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Becky Lynch). A main event caliber match between the eight woman is in the works for this November's Survivor Series PPV. The following talents have officially been signed to WWE deals after the Mae Young Classic. They include; Kairi Sane, Vanessa Borne, Zeda, Sarah Logan, Xia Li, Rhea Ripley, Abby Laith, Kavita Devi, Dakota Kair, Bianca Belair, Sage Beckett, Lacey Evans, Taynara Conti, and Reina Gonzalez. The WWE is also interested in signing Piper Niven, Mercedes Martinez, Candice LeRae, Toni Storm, and Tessa Blanchard although those deals have yet to be worked out officially. With the influx of female talent, the WWE has discussed strengthening their NXT and main rosters' women's divisions, as well as adding a female tag team championship title to one of their brands. Mae Young Tournament Champion, Kairi Sane, will immediately see herself in the currently vacant NXT Women's Championship picture.
