NEWS: Drew Galloway (McIntyre) Signs with WWE NXT

NEWS: During last evening's incredible WWE NXT TakeOver Special in Orlando, Florida, former TNA World Champion Drew Galloway was seen sitting ringside. It was later announced that Galloway was signed to NXT. Galloway, who will resume his WWE moniker of Drew McIntyre, last wrestled in a WWE ring in 2014 as a member of Heath Slater's Three Man Band (3MB). WWE made it official and released the following statement:

Former WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre has returned with his eye locked firmly on the NXT Championship.
In the midst of NXT TakeOver: Orlando, rumors instantly began to circulate when the “Sinister Scotsman” was spotted watching the live WWE Network event very closely from his seat in the capacity crowd.
But speculation instantly dissipated when McIntyre revealed to ESPN that he has signed as NXT’s newest Superstar.

This huge news immediately conjures thoughts of dream showdowns between the hard-hitting McIntyre and the NXT roster’s elite. And judging by the reaction of the NXT Universe when he was shown donning a sly smile in attendance, fans were certainly excited by the prospect of him stepping through the yellow ropes very soon.

After signing with NXT, Galloway stated,
"Why would I not be here at NXT TakeOver? If you've followed me over the last few years and watched what I've done, I've traveled the world and won every championship there is to win. I've become a bit of a franchise player. What is the next logical step? Where the best Superstars in the world, where the best prize is the NXT Championship. That is exactly what I want. If that's not clear enough for you, Drew McIntyre has signed with NXT."

McIntyre had a wildly successful run with TNA Impact Wrestling, where he captured the TNA World Title quickly and with relative ease. Despite arriving with high expectations and a huge endorsement by Vince McMahon, who called McIntyre the future of wrestling, his previous WWE run was subpar at best. He was often a forgotten component on the roster and relegated to the under-card. His most memorable WWE moments came as a member of Heath Slater's 3MB stable, where he often played second fiddle in Slater's band of jobber rock stars. Whether he gets over in the WWE with this second run remains to be seen; but, undoubtedly, Drew McIntyre still has much to prove on the biggest stage in the world.
