NEWS: NFL Star James Laurinaitis Retires Amid WWE Speculation

NEWS: St. Louis Rams great and son of WWE Hall of Famer, Road Warrior Animal, James Laurinaitis, has retired from the NFL. The former Ohio State Buckeyes linebacker retires at the age of thirty, after playing eight professional seasons. The retirement has some in the WWE salivating at the chance of getting Laurinaitis to come to the WWE, something he grew up around. Before deciding to give professional football a go, Laurinatis was heavily recruited by the WWE and at age 30, is still young enough to have a Hall of Fame caliber WWE career. Laurinaitis' father, Road Warrior Animal, still wrestles on the independent scene and has kept himself in wrestling shape over the years, despite suffering many injuries over the duration of his Hall of Fame career. With former Road Warrior manager, Paul Ellering, managing the Authors of Pain in NXT, the time may be ripe for the WWE to bring both Laurinaitis' in for a feud with Ellering's new team. Some in the WWE salivate over the opportunity for a Road Warriors reunion of sorts, with James Laurinaitis taking the late Hawk's position at his father's side. Whether this happens or not remains to be seen. James Laurinatis doesn't need the money, as he amassed a fortune for himself while playing in the NFL. There's also this quote Laurinaitis made before entering the 2009 NFL draft,
"One or two times when I was at OSU, he said to me, ‘You know, what do you think about coming into the family business?’ But to be honest, I hope this football deal works out long enough where I don’t have to do any of that I know the beating my dad took from it. He had to have nine surgeries. He can’t even lift his right arm above his head anymore.”
Who recruited Laurinaitis in 2009? None other than Vince McMahon himself. As is often said in the WWE, what Vince wants, Vince eventually gets.
