NEWS: George Gray (f.k.a. Akeem, One Man Gang) In Need of Help

NEWS: The Baton Rouge, Louisiana flood was one of epic proportions that left much of southern Louisiana underwater and residents homeless in its destructive path. The wrestling world wasn't left untouched in the path of the terrible storm. George Gray, whom wrestling fans would know better as the One Man Gang and Akeem the African Dream, saw his entire home destroyed by the historic flood. Gray was among the 125,000 people in the area who did not have flood insurance, which means that he is on the hook for the enormous bill. Gray recently stated, "This caught us by surprise because our place had never actually flooded in the 20 years we’ve owned the house, When you look curbside now, it’s like a disaster zone. There’s a giant mountain of our stuff in front of one side of the house and a giant mountain on the other with things like a refrigerator, washing machine and dryer that got ruined from basically sitting in three feet of water. Basically, everything is gone. All of my wrestling memorabilia was washed away, things like old-school posters and my boots that we didn’t store in the attic because we didn’t think it was ever going to flood." Gray is currently living in a Quality Inn with his wife and their eight rescue cats. Estimators recently told Gray that he would need to come up with $75,000 to simply make his house habitable again. "There’s no way to live in it. We have electricity but basically nothing else. All the flooring is gone and the wood is stripped. The whole house is gutted," Gray lamented. $75,000 is no small task when a serious back injury prevents one from ever wrestling again, which is the case with Gray. Gray entertained fans for years appearing in five different WrestleManias and wrestling as Akeem the African Dream, Big Bossman's tag team partner, in the Twin Towers. Now Gray calls on those same fans he entertained, to help him with a desperate situation. Gray's son, Justin, has set up a Go Fund Me page in hopes of raising $20,000 toward fixing his parent's home. The site has raised over $12,000 thus far. Wrestling fans can visit the site and donate by clicking HERE. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gray family; but, like President Obama recently said about the epidemic of shootings in the United States, thoughts and prayers are not enough. We must come together and do something for those that are in need. The Gray family is no exception.
