NEWS: Paige Faces a Questionable Future in the WWE; Hires Legal Representation

NEWS: Paige has been little used by the WWE since her relationship with Alberto Del Rio began this past May. The Total Divas star was scarcely seen on television during what can only be described as a tumultuous relationship between her and Del Rio. There were several high profile low-points in the Del Rio/Paige love affair that deeply embarrassed the WWE. These included; Paige getting a very visible "papi" tattoo on her finger, Paige being detained by police for a mental health check after a public argument with Del Rio, various social media spats between the two, a wellness violation for both Superstars, and a very nasty public divorce between Del Rio and his wife, a relationship in which Paige was revealed as the "other woman." According to sources, WWE went to Paige and Del Rio and asked them to end their relationship, even going as far as threatening to fire the Superstars if they refused to cooperate. Ultimately, Del Rio chose to exercise his contractual option and leave the Company. Paige; however, is signed with the WWE through 2019 and is said to be extremely unhappy, especially with her "papi" now gone. Her WWE status is very much up in the air; however, WWE owns her contract until 2019. They can technically leave her on the roster to fester, with little to no television time, using her as nothing more than enhancement talent. This will minimize her value when she becomes a free agent in 2019. Paige can retire without pay and unable to work in wrestling until her contractual obligation expires. The least likely scenario is that the WWE can simply choose to cut their losses and out and out release the former 2-Time Divas Champion. Paige has now hired legal representation in an apparent attempt to finagle out of her deal and also bring to light what she and Del Rio considers harassment on the part of the WWE. How will this one play out? The WWE has a monopoly on the wrestling business. There is no better opportunity for wrestlers to earn a substantial income than to work for the WWE. Paige has already worn out her welcome with the Company, who believes they have exercised the utmost patience with the young Superstar. Right or wrong, she should be careful not to step on the WWE's very big toes. Another lapse in judgment may cost Paige her entire career.
