NEWS: WWE Threatened to Fire Paige if She Didn't Break Up with Alberto Del Rio

NEWS: According to sources, some WWE officials are breathing a sigh of relief that Alberto Del Rio has chosen to leave the company. Behind the scenes, WWE officials were worried about the relationship between Del Rio and Paige. There were several very public and high profile incidents that already brought shame to the company; including failed drug tests for both Superstars, Del Rio's divorce and Paige being detained by police for a mental wellness exam. Some in the WWE front office were bracing for the worst between the two and desperately wanted the relationship to end. This is why the WWE split up Paige & Del Rio in the draft, with Paige going to RAW and Del Rio to SmackDown. Head of Talent Relations, Mark Carrano, privately went to both Paige and Alberto Del Rio to get them to call things off; but, was unsuccessful in his attempts, even after threatening to fire Paige, if she didn't call things off with Del Rio. Both Superstars were incensed at what they considered an overreach by the WWE; but, their anger fell on deaf ears as the Front Office was allegedly very concerned that things were bad enough to have a Chris Benoit-esque embarrassment on their hands. Paige is currently serving a 30 day suspension for violating the WWE's Wellness Policy; however, she is still under contract and all indications are that the WWE wants her to return to in-ring action. It will be interesting to see whether or not the relationship between Paige and the WWE continues sans Alberto Del Rio, or will Paige receive the A.J. Lee treatment?
