FINAL CARD & PREDICTIONS - WWE Clash of Champions
FINAL CARD & PREDICTIONS:
WWE Clash of Champions
9/25/16 - Indianapolis, IN - 7PM CST
Best of 7 Series: Sheamus vs Cesaro
Sheamus is playing the role of the New York Yankees in the 2004 American League Championship Series. Sheamus has the experience. He has the world championships. He HAD a 3-0 lead in the series. Cesaro was a huge underdog in the series, especially after going down 3-0 to the Irish tough guy. However, Cesaro showed impressive resolve in battling back to tie the series at 3-3. This is the rubber match between the two feuding superstars and Cesaro has all the momentum after battling back from a 3-0 deficit. With the winner of the series guaranteed a Universal Championship match, look for Cesaro to win his fourth straight match to go on to battle heel champion Kevin Owens in what should be a classic encounter.
Winner: Cesaro via pinfall
Sami Zayn is the arch nemesis of Chris Jericho's new best friend Kevin Owens. Jericho and Owens make a perfect couple and one would expect them to build a bunk-bed together to make room for more activities in their shared bedroom (dated Step Brothers reference). Jericho is absolutely appalled over the way Zayn treated his best friend, so much so that he attacked him and through his own cell phone at Zayn's head, which showed how angry Jericho is. Jericho needs that thing to call Owens and order ridiculously priced scarves. The incident led to another encounter this past Monday on RAW and it's safe to say that these two detest one another heading into Clash of Champions. Look for some heated moments and even some brawling between these two technical wizards; but, the real victor of this match will be the fans when these two decide to get down to technical wrestling. It should be a real back and forth beauty, which will feature a plethora of technical wrestling moves by these two experts. Zayn hasn't won anything noteworthy in quite awhile and could use a bump to prevent his momentum from slipping further.
Winner: Sami Zayn via submission
RAW Tag Team Champions the New Day vs Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows
These two teams have been oddly paired from the start. Their lackluster meetings have featured Big E being sidelines due to an injury to his male parts, Anderson & Gallows becoming doctors, and an old broken down version of the New Day being mocked by Anderson & Gallows (yawn). Fans are getting tired of the games between the two teams and the former Japanese tag team legends have failed to get over in the WWE. New Day have been champions for well over a year and while common sense might call for a change, Anderson & Gallows aren't the ones to carry the mantle. New Day still moves an insane amount of WWE product and WWE won't break them up any time soon. Plus there is a huge money making opportunity down the line in having New Day face Enzo & Big Cass for the RAW Tag Team Championships. Look for Anderson & Gallows to throw everything they have at the New Day; but, it won't be enough to overcome New Day's Unicorn Magic.
Winners: The New Day via pinfall
WWE Cruiserweight Champion T.J. Perkins vs Brian Kendrick
WWE's Cruiserweight Classic was an instant classic and featured some of the best wrestling in the world. The Superstar that stood tall after it was all said and done was the unassuming T.J. Perkins, who was declared the winner of the tournament and simultaneously WWE's new Cruiserweight Champion. Kendrick did not even make it to the finals of the event, despite a Cinderella story which saw him return as an older and wiser veteran to the company he achieved tag team glory with so many years ago. He did; however, earn the opportunity after winning a Fatal 4-Way Match against Gran Metalik, Cedric Alexander, and Rich Swann this past Monday on RAW. The young, handsome Perkins, with the comeback story of a lifetime (from homeless to WWE Champion), isn't something the WWE will give up on anytime soon. Plus, he's much better than Kendrick in all facets of the game from submission wrestling, to mat wrestling, to high flying maneuvers. Look for a fantastic back and forth matchup; but, look for Perkins to win handily and retain his WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Winner: T.J. Perkins via pinfall
WWE United States Champion Rusev vs Roman Reigns
Is the WWE done punishing Reigns after he tested positive for a banned substance, failing the Wellness Policy while holding what was, at the time, WWE's premier championship? Since that time the WWE Universe has been treated to seeing Reigns lose cleanly more than we ever have before. WWE is making sure that Reigns, who squandered his huge push and opportunity as champion, understands what it feels like to fall to Earth. Rusev brings legitimacy to the United States title, which was almost ruined by lackluster champions like Alberto Del Rio and Kalisto. He's also had a bit of a push as of late, after a terrible angle with he, Lana, and Dolph Ziggler nearly side-railed his career. Can Rusev beat Reigns cleanly? Of course he can. The Bulgarian Brute has appeared unbeatable at times and capable of defeating any Superstar on the roster. The new Roman Reigns is not the infallible god that Vince McMahon was pushing before. He is a man and has very much fallen to Earth.....almost. What hasn't the WWE Universe seen Reigns do? The WWE Universe has never seen Reigns give up. We've never seen Reigns tap....until Night of Champions, when he finds himself the victim of the Accolade.
Winner: Rusev via submission
WWE RAW Women's Champion Charlotte vs Bayley vs Sasha Banks
This should be an epic match featuring three of the greatest Superstars to ever come out of NXT. All three of these women have competed against one another extensively and oftentimes put on Match of the Year quality bouts. Look for that trend to continue tonight. Conventional wisdom would have Sasha regaining the Championship she lost at SummerSlam. Sasha was forced to give up her RAW Women's Championship due to a recurring back injury. She is healthy now and the gold should go back around her waist. Should. That doesn't mean it will. It will be difficult for one heel to face two faces in a match, so don't look for that trend to continue all night. Sasha will go back to her old ways and focus her wrath on Bayley, at some point. Sasha will blame Bayley for her own inability to recapture the title she lost cleanly at SummerSlam and will attack her former friend. Charlotte; however, will come away unscathed and with Dana Brooke in her corner (a definite advantage) will also come away with the victory.
Winner: Charlotte via pinfall. Charlotte pins Bayley.
WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins
Kevin Owens is now clearly Triple H's guy: the corporate champion, the new chosen one, hand-picked to lead the WWE into the future. The problem is that title used to belong to Seth Rollins, whom Triple H threw to the way-side to ensure Owens' reign. Rollins is absolutely incensed at the treatment he received; but, that anger will likely work against him at Clash of Champions. Look for a back and forth affair between Owen and Rollins, a match which could be a sure-fire Match of the Year candidate. Just when Rollins seems ready for the win, Triple H will come out and draw Rollins' anger ensuring his own distraction. This will buy Owens just enough time to recover and pin the distracted Rollins after a Pop Up Power Bomb.
Winner: Kevin Owens via pinfall (Triple H interference)
