NEWS: E! personality Maria Menounos, is stepping down from her current position with the company after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Menounos recently underwent surgery to remove the benign meningioma brain tumor; but, there is a 6-7 percent chance the tumor may return. E! released the following statement,
"Our thoughts and support go out to Maria and her family and we wish them all the best knowing that Maria will tackle this with the same fierce dedication she is known for. We are grateful for Maria’s many contributions to E! over the past three years."Maria replied with the following,
"I am so grateful for the past three years at E!. I had such an amazing time co-hosting with Jason Kennedy and working everyday with the wonderful roster of talent on the show including producers, staff and crew. It was such a special, good-hearted group and one I’ll always consider family. A special thank you to Frances Berwick and Adam Stotsky for all the support they have shown me through the years especially during these tough times. I will truly miss everyone and looking forward to this next chapter in my life.”Menounos is a well known life-long WWE fan and personality. She made her WWE debut in 2009 as a celebrity guest host on RAW and made her in-ring debut the same night in a Six Man Tag Team Match where she teamed with Gail Kim and Kelly in a victorious effort against Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes. She would go on to appear at several WWE events including Tribute to the Troops, where she feuded with the Bella Twins; but, her feud with then Divas Champion Beth Phoenix is what truly ignited Menounos to WWE fame. That feud would culminate in a tag team match at WrestleMania XXVIII. Despite wrestling with cracked ribs (a legitimate injury Menounos suffered while competing on Dancing with the Stars) she and her teammate Kelly Kelly defeated the team of Phoenix and Eve Torres when Menounos pinned then WWE Divas Champion Phoenix. Menounos has gone on to famously host the WWE Hall of Fame red carpet and has appeared at several WrestleManias since. She even inducted her long-time favorite wrestler, Bob Baclund, into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Our thoughts and prayers are with Menounos as she continues to fight against this terrible disease.
