NEWS: Although Cheap Heat Wrestling accurately predicted Ronda Rousey's WWE debut at the Royal Rumble, most of the world was taken by surprise. Rousey appeared at the conclusion of the first ever WWE Women's Royal Rumble sending shockwaves through the world of professional wrestling and social media. Some took exception with the way Rousey was brought into the WWE, saying that it took away from the women who just participated in the historical event. WWE Superstars Nikki Bella and Nia Jax are definitely on that side of the fence. The two took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.
Cool she’s here....I guess 30 women making history can just be forgotten https://t.co/fHqMezduEH— Nia Jax (@NiaJaxWWE) January 30, 2018
Wonder what all the 30 other women candid thoughts were too? N #firsteverwomensroyalrumble https://t.co/42sztg2JWB— Nikki & Brie (@BellaTwins) January 30, 2018
While some Superstars may have sour grapes over Rousey's WWE debut, it's important to remember a couple of things. The WWE very much gives Rousey credit for her part in the Women's Revolution. It was Rousey who brought to a national stage what the WWE female Superstars were doing on a smaller one. For many in America, Ronda Rousey was the first female fighter whom they believed was just as good as any male. Secondly, one can make the argument that Ronda Rousey is a figure of such magnitude that her presence did not take away from the women at the Royal Rumble. Instead, her presence enhanced it and brought more attention to both the historicity of the first Women's Royal Rumble, the WWE in general, and the upcoming WrestleMania 34. Whatever side of the fence one finds themselves, the WWE female Superstars should get used to Ronda Rousey. She isn't there for a one off appearance ala former boxer Floyd Mayweather. The former MMA star has signed a multi-year deal with the WWE and very much wants to make wrestling her life,
"This is my life now. First priority on my timeline for the next several years. This is not a smash-and-grab; this is not a publicity stunt. There are other things I can do with my time that could make way more money; but, I won't enjoy nearly as much."Rousey, a life-long wrestling fan, uses the moniker Rowdy to honor her friend and idol, the late-great Roddy Piper. At the Royal Rumble she wore Piper's actual leather jacket in tribute and with permission from Piper's son, Colt Toombs. She fully intends on honoring the sport Piper gave his blood sweat and tears too, the sport that ignited her own dreams as she grew up watching.
