WWE FastLane Final Card & Predictions
FINAL CARD & PREDICTIONS:
WWE FastLane
3/5/2017
Milwaukee, WI
Sasha Banks vs Nia Jaxx
Nia Jaxx is as dominant a force as Women's wrestling has ever seen. She is massive enough to be feared by any competitor in the women's division. Her sheer power is unparalleled making her an odds on favorite against any competition, let alone one coming off a significant injury. Even a wrestler as skilled as Sasha Banks would have great difficulty against Nia Jaxx on a good night; but, on an evening where she is less than 100%, Sasha has an impossible task and is relatively easy prey for Jaxx. That doesn't mean it won't be a fight. If Sasha has anything left, it's pride and she won't go down without maximum effort. Look for Sasha to use her superior speed to her advantage early; however, it simply won't be enough as Nia will eventually get her hands on Sasha and break her for the victory.
Winner: Nia Jaxx via pinfall
Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs Enzo Amore & Big Cass
Gallows & Anderson were one of Japan's most decorated, feared, and respected tag teams before making their RAW debut early last year. The team was expected to take the WWE by storm and become a newer modern version of earlier legends like the Legion of Doom. Gallows & Anderson; however, arrived with a thud and soon found themselves a forgotten team, drowning on the mid-card. Their seemingly fruitless WWE career all came to an end when the duo made the most of their tag team championship opportunity against Sheamus & Cesaro, capturing WWE gold for the very first time. Enzo & Big Cass have quickly become one of WWE's most endearing and popular tag teams since their 2016 call up to the main roster; but, for all their talking, they haven't done much winning. Enzo and Cass have yet to capture gold on any level of WWE, including NXT. Don't look for that to happen tonight either. While Enzo & Cass are a formidable duo, they aren't yet quite up to par with the more accomplished and savvy Gallows & Anderson. Look for a good match; but, look for Gallows & Anderson to exploit Amore and Cass' weakness: Enzo Amore's in-ring skills. Cass will be frustrated as Gallows & Anderson will use the strategy of keeping Enzo in the ring and Cass out of it to their victorious advantage.
Winners: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson via pinfall
WWE Cruiserweight Champions Neville vs Jack Gallagher
Neville had all the promise in the world when he was called up to WWE's main roster; but, the former NXT Champion quickly fizzled and became a forgotten man in the WWE. His fall from promise was further impacted by an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for months. However, Neville returned with a new beard and an evil attitude to go along with it. Since that time he has captured the Cruiserweight Championship and become a legitimate Title holder. Although Jack Gallagher is becoming increasingly well known for his Mary Poppins-esque antics with an umbrella, he is a fantastic in-ring technician. Neville shouldn't sleep on him and the veteran won't, knowing all too well that he could lose everything in a second. Look for a potential show stealer here; but, ultimately the Cruiserweight Championship has changed hands far too often for the belt to be considered legitimate. Look for Neville to reverse that trend and get the victory here.
Winner: Neville via pinfall
Samoa Joe vs Sami Zayn
When was the last time Sami Zayn won anything? Yet, he continues to go after WWE's most dominant forces like Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens, and now Samoa Joe. Yes, Sami Zayn went the distance with Braun Strowman, lasting ten minutes in a match; but, was dominated for the majority of that bout and has been dominated for the majority of 2016 and all of 2017. Until Zayn establishes himself on the mid-card against comparable competition, look for that trend to continue here. Samoa Joe is dangerous. To reiterate: Samoa Joe is dangerous. Now that he is corporate backed, Samoa Joe has everything he needs to be a WWE Champion sooner rather than later. Sami Zayn is a small obstacle on his way to WWE golden glory. He will remove that obstacle and do so, violently. Look for a dominating effort by Joe in this one. Let's just hope Sami Zayn survives to learn his lesson.
Winner: Samoa Joe via submission
WWE Women's Champion Bayley vs Charlotte
Bayley has now beaten Charlotte three times on the main roster, including a Championship victory on RAW. However, the victory was tainted by interference and overall bad officiating throughout the match. Charlotte believes she is the rightful champion and will have an opportunity to prove that tonight on FastLane. Look for a wonderful match between these two, as they are two of the very best in the history of women's wrestling. Look for a WrestleMania set up, as well. Sasha Banks has been increasingly "involved" in Bayley's business, from defending her to Stephanie McMahon to interfering in her matches. That trend will continue tonight; however, it will backfire and work in Charlotte's favor. Look for Sasha's interference to inadvertently cost Bayley the Title tonight. Bayley will be angry and won't understand why Sasha did what she did. Sasha will interpret Bayley's anger as a lack of appreciation and turn against her former best friend, setting up a WrestleMania match between the two. Meanwhile Charlotte will increase her PPV victory streak to 17.
Winner and new RAW Women's Champion: Charlotte via pinfall
Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman
Never has the WWE seen a more formidable force than Braun Strowman. This includes Brock Lesnar. This includes the Big Show. This includes Andre the Giant. Never have the wrestling gods granted one man so much in size, power, and athleticism. Strowman is an absolute beast; however, he has drawn the attention of one Roman Reigns. Reigns is a monster slayer, a beast in his own right and one of WWE's very best. Look for one of the most violent matches of the year as these two will stop at nothing to achieve victory. Strowman will do his best not just to achieve victory; but, to break Reigns. WWE has done everything in their power to get Reigns over with the fans; but, nothing has worked. Reigns was most appreciated when he was a heel, as a member of the famous trio the SHIELD. While Strowman may be the future of the WWE, Reigns won't go out without a fight and will have a lot to say about the matter. Look for Reigns to use his heart and willingness to fight, his greatest strengths, to gain the edge over Strowman and get the victory here. However, the match will be so brutal that Strowman will gain the respect of the audience. Reigns, incensed, will continue to attack Strowman post-match and even put him through a table. The crowd will boo; but, their boos will be met with nothing besides darkness. As the lights come back on the grim shadowy figure of the Undertaker will be revealed. Taker, who was once put through a table by Roman Reigns and his SHIELD brethren, will take Reigns and Tombstone him through one, setting up a match between the two at WrestleMania.
Winner: Roman Reigns via pinfall
WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens vs Goldberg
Goldberg is the clear sentimental favorite here. Many wrestling fans were children when Goldberg was at his most dominant in the 1990s and those kids relish the idea of Goldberg, once again, wearing wrestling gold. Since returning to the WWE to face Brock Lesnar, Goldberg's streak of domination has only continued as he has slayed the WWE's Beast setting up an epic upcoming WrestleMania encounter between the two men. There is an obstacle in the way of their match; however, a quest that Goldberg feels he must complete. Goldberg is being offered a Universal Championship Match against the "longest reigning Universal Champion in history," Kevin Owens. Owens is savvy and does not hesitate to bend the rules in order preserve what he considers a historic championship reign; but, he underestimates the benefit of having had Chris Jericho in his corner. Jericho often interfered in Owens' matches, giving Owens a huge advantage over his opponents. The Champion will no longer have that advantage after turning on his best friend a few weeks ago on RAW. Owens is extremely intelligent. He knows this is a mismatch, that Goldberg is a far superior athlete with superior strength and speed. He won't bring a knife to a gunfight and will do something sinister to even the odds between he and Goldberg. Chris Jericho; however, won't stand for it any longer. He will come to the ring in Goldberg's (also a legitimate long-time rival of Jericho's) favor and will not allow Kevin Owens to continue using underhanded tactics against his opponents. Jericho's return will shock Owens enough to turn right into a Spear. Owens will be fighting in a Championship match at WrestleMania. It just won't be a Universal Championship match. He will be facing his former best friend, Chris Jericho, for Jericho's United States Championship.
Winner and NEW Universal Champion: Goldberg via pinfall
