FINAL CARD & PREDICTIONS: WWE Extreme Rules

FINAL CARD & PREDICTIONS:

5/22/2016 - WWE Extreme Rules - Newark, NJ

No DQ Match: Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler
The last time these two met the WWE went with their usual 50/50 booking and chose Ziggler to edge the up and comer Corbin out with a cheap roll up victory. With Corbin winning their first match up, this is the rubber match between the two. Ziggler is a pretty boy, a technician in the ring; but, Corbin is a former NFL player, a genuine bad ass that will use the No DQ stipulation to his complete advantage. Look for Corbin to use the stairs, the chairs, and anything else he can get his hands on to brutalize Ziggler and gain a clear and decisive victory, in both the match and in the feud.

Tornado Tag Match: Gallows & Anderson vs The Usos
This is the hottest tag team feud in the WWE. These two teams do not like each other. Even further, they despise one another. With the bad blood continuing to build between WWE Champion Roman Reigns and A.J. Styles, the feud has even intensified between Reigns' real life cousins and Styles' long-time Bullet Club running mates, as this one is intensely personal. While each of these teams have exchanged pinfall victories on RAW & SmackDown in both regular tag matches and six man matches, the advantage at Extreme Rules goes to the Bullet Club, who will get the Usos in the ring together. "The Club," as they are now known in the WWE will use the size advantage of Gallows to overpower the Usos and they will gain a decisive pinfall victory over the real life brothers. Their win will be so brutal, in fact, that the Usos will be physically unable to be in Reigns' corner for his main event match against A.J. Styles.

United States Champion Kalisto vs Rusev
Rusev annihilated Kalisto this past Monday on RAW. After attacking Kalisto's partner Sin Cara, Rusev turned his attention to the other half of the Lucha Dragons and put Kalisto in an Accolade that saw Kalisto's overmatched frame bend like a pretzel. Kalisto was so banged up after the incident that he was unable to compete on this Thursday's SmackDown. Conventional booking would suggest that Kalisto, who took the beating on RAW, will get the victory on the Pay-per-view; however, the WWE can come out of this match with two big angles instead of one. That will prove too enticing to allow Kalisto to come out of this match with his United States Championship. While Rusev brutalized Kalisto's partner Sin Cara, Kalisto continued his RAW match unaffected and with little regard. Sin Cara won't forget that. Look for Sin Cara's interference to cost Kalisto the match here and get the United States Championship around Rusev's waist. However, don't expect Rusev to be the U.S. Champion for long. John Cena returns to the WWE on the Memorial Day edition of RAW. Rusev will be wearing that United States Championship in order to drop it to Cena upon his return on Memorial Day.

Asylum Match: Dean Ambrose vs Chris Jericho
Jericho did the unthinkable when he destroyed Ambrose's beloved plant Mitch. Then Ambrose avenged his beloved plant by destroying Jericho's beloved $15,000 light up jacket live on the following RAW. The incidents only intensified the feud between the two, which led to this insane Asylum Match. The match, which features a steel cage lined with brutal props like straight jackets and canes strongly favors the lunatic brawler Dean Ambrose. The bout should take Jericho out of his element as a technical wrestler and play right into Ambrose's hands, who will achieve the victory in this bout and in the feud.

WWE Tag Team Champions the New Day vs the Vaudevillains
WWE's #1 Contender's Tournament came to anti-climatic end with the injury of Enzo Amore. Big Cass & Enzo were scheduled to win that match and face the New Day at this event; however, Amore's injury pushed fellow NXT call ups the Vaudevillains into the big match against the WWE Tag Team Champions. While this will be an entertaining back and forth match, WWE has their mind set on a big SummerSlam match between the current WWE Tag Team Champions, the New Day & what the WWE sees as the tag team of the future in Enzo and Big Cass. Look for the New Day to welcome the Vaudevillains into the New Era with a decisive pinfall victory.

Fatal 4-Way: Intercontinental Champion the Miz vs Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn vs Cesaro
This could potentially be the show stealer, as the match features four of the most talented wrestlers on the roster all in one ring. Look for a back and forth affair with many jaw dropping high spots. Zayn and Owens, who despise each other, will battle back and forth throughout the evening, nearly losing focus on the goal at hand: winning the IC Title. The Miz will use Maryse to his advantage; but, it won't be enough to win. Cesaro will demonstrate his great strength against all three of his opponents; but, it also won't be enough to win. Owens will demonstrate his savviness, performing his Pop Up Powerbomb on the Miz and just as he is about to score the pinfall victory, Zayn will come in, throw Owens out of the ring and steal the win from Owens. Zayn wins and becomes the new WWE Intercontinental Champion sparking a feud between he and the jaded Kevin Owens.

Submission Match: WWE Women's Champion Charlotte vs Natalya
Ric Flair is barred from ringside. If he shows up at all, Charlotte will forfeit her WWE Women's Championship. This is a match that is as much Sharpshooter vs Figure 8 as it is Natalya vs Charlotte, as the winner can only achieve victory via submission. Look for a back and forth match with another convoluted ending (see Payback). As Natalya puts Charlotte in the Sharpshooter, Ric won't be able to contain himself. Overwhelmed with emotion, Ric will make his way to ringside to come to his daughter's aid ultimately costing her the Women's Championship. This will lead Charlotte to accost her own father at the conclusion of the match. Ric will garner sympathy as she mercilessly assaults him. He will cry. Through his tears he will plead, "But...I love you." It won't matter to Charlotte who will be consumed with losing her Women's Championship. Enter Summer Rae, who last Monday (via Twitter) promised to, "Comfort Ric." This will set up a feud between Charlotte and Summer. Natalya will be the new Women's Champion in another screwy finish. Finally the Montreal Screwjob angle comes full circle and a Hart "screws" someone else out of a Championship.

Extreme Rules Match: WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns vs A.J. Styles
After taking a severe beating earlier on in the evening, the Usos will be unable to join Reigns in his corner. Gallows & Anderson; however, are just fine. Look for Reigns to use his size advantage to brutalize his smaller opponent. There will be a spot where Styles goes through an announcer's table as they have been teasing this for weeks. There may be some chair use, or at least, an attempt to use chairs. Styles will try to sway Reigns off his game by using Reigns' own aggression against him. However, Reigns' size and strength will eventually win out. Right before Reigns looks to finish Styles for the victory, Gallows & Anderson will interfere, attacking Reigns, mercilessly beating him with chairs, throwing him through an announcers table and leaving the WWE Champion unconscious, as they throw him back in the ring. The two Good Brothers will urge Styles to take advantage of the beating they just gave Reigns and to pin him to become WWE Champion. Styles, ever the face, will refuse. Gallows & Anderson will turn on Styles and attack. Reigns, who will re-gain consciousness and make his way back to his feet during all the commotion, will take full advantage and hit Styles with the Spear for a pinfall victory.
